In December 2005, President George W. Bush signed the legislation into law creating the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial 1-Cent Coin Redesign, a one year, four coin commemorative coin program celebrating 100 years of our nations 16th. President.
Born in Kentucky, on February 12, 1809 and dying from an assassin on April 15, 1865 our 16th. President will be depicted in the likeness of the original Victor David Brenner image of President Abraham Lincoln created back in 1909.
The coins reverse will display four different designs each representing a different aspect of the life of Abraham Lincoln; his birth and early childhood in Kentucky, his formative years in Indiana, his professional life in Illinois and his presidency, in Washington, D.C..
