This airliner was a "civilianized" version of the famous B-29 bomber & used the same lower fuselage, wings, engines, landing gear, elevator and rudder as the bomber version. This made an extremely long range passenger plane that was used by Pan American, United, American Overseas, TransOcean and Northwest Orient airlines. The YS 11 was developed by the Japanese in 1964 and first went into US service in 1966 with Piedmont and Hawaiian Airlines. Powered by two Rolls-Royce turbo-prop engines, the YS 11 can carry 52-60 passengers to a range of 2000 miles at speeds up to 291 mph. CM44014	$24.95	President Truman C-118 The Independence - 1:144 - Minicraft** Minicraft 1/144 scale model (kit#14447) of "The Independence" used by President Harry S Truman as presidential transport. This one-of-a-kind VC-118 was delivered to the USAF on 1 July 1947 where it served thru the mid 60's. The Independence carried a crew of seven, cruised at 300 mph at 20,000 feet and was configured to hold approximately 20 passengers. While assigned to US Strike Command in February 1963, I had the privilege of riding on this aircraft during tour of European major military headquarters -- it still had HST's white mahogany poker table in the main suite! The model is new -- parts are sealed in a plastic envelope -- has decals for the "as delivered" paint scheme and has the original box in good condition. Wings Models plans to produce a high quality M-130 China Clipper kit in 1/144 and 1/72 scale by Summer 2007. The Wings kit will include cast resin props, engines, engine cowlings, etc, two crystal clear vacuformed canopies and appropriate decals. Glencoe Models 1/144 scale model of the Martin Aircraft Company's M-130 "China Clipper" flying boat that provided our first trans-oceanic flying service. This four-engined aircraft was the result of Pam American Airlines specifications for a long-range over-the-water aircraft. Although only three aircraft were built, they became world famous in PanAm passenger service. First flown in 1935, the M-130 could carry twelve passengers in luxurious & spacious comfort. All three aircraft were destroyed in crashes in 1938, 1943 & 1945.
